Staff Industrial Hygienist
Charles Austin has worked for 20 years performing Occupational and Environmental Health research, training, assessments, and testing. He has worked with industrial, construction, and residential industries, also local, state, and the federal government. Mr. Austin possesses broad experience and skills in the areas of industrial hygiene, health assessment research, safety, sustainability, safe work practices, and environmental issues. He has conducted numerous health and safety investigations, feasibility studies, environmental and occupational research, environmental impact studies, brownfield investigations, environmental audits, chemical hygiene management, indoor air quality assessments, hazardous materials investigations, HVAC systems investigations, and work practice evaluations. He collaborates with SMOHIT staff, regional coordinators, and health professionals developing policy, safety and health training materials, directing research, and consulting around local and national issues related to environmental, safety, and health concerns. He also conducts OSHA and Disaster Response training the trainer courses. Charles performs audits, training, research, inspection, and testing on various environmental, health, and safety hazards in an effort to improve the level of health, safety, and awareness within the sheet metal industry.
